Hilary Koob-Sassen works in several media to accomplish aspects of his project. He uses sculpture to model four-dimensional phenomenon: the elaboration of human culture in time. He is currently working on a series of steel back grounds and marble landscape-figures. The marble formations move from spores and bridges having durability and procession in time, towards a trellis formation where culture is able to drag down the sky into organ economies.
In his musical performances with the cellist Andreas Kohler, he proposes audio-visual navigations of the landscape-formations of culture. Moving from past to future, from memorial to premonition, the songs experiment with the difference between commitment and conviction.
For Hilary Koob-Sassen, film is the aegis medium within which the essential contributions of all the media can work together. His films are song navigations of sculpted and animated landscape-figures or culture, seeking traction on the sky, traction on time.
